Dear faithful,

Your agreement with the sedeprivationist position is a praiseworthy recognition of the grave crisis affecting the Church since Vatican II.

To continue your religious life faithfully to authentic Catholic doctrine (as taught before 1963), here are the following counsels, based on certain Catholic theology:

1. You must absolutely avoid active participation in the Novus Ordo Mass and sacraments administered within the conciliar structures, as they are invalid, given by invalid priests, tainted with errors and can endanger the faith. The See of Peter has been vacant since the public promulgation of heresies contained notably in *Lumen Gentium* by Paul VI in 1964. Successive occupants lack the authority to impose a new rite of Mass or teachings contrary to tradition.

2. Prioritarily seek a traditional Mass (rite of Saint Pius V) celebrated by a faithful Catholic priest, uncompromised with modern errors. Unfortunately, in Asia and particularly in China as of 2026, no public chapels are known to adhere to this position.I know there are some catholics living there. But "Official" Catholic churches in China (such as St. Ignatius Cathedral in Shanghai) follow the Novus Ordo rite and recognize the conciliar claimants. Rare early morning Masses in Latin that may still exist in some parishes are typically Novus Ordo in Latin, not the traditional rite.

3. In the absence of an accessible traditional Mass, Catholic theology approves staying at home on Sundays to pray the rosary, read the Mass from a traditional missal (dry Mass), meditate on Scripture, and perform acts of charity. This suffices to sanctify Sunday without sin, for God does not command the impossible.

4. Regarding possible re-baptism: Baptism received in the Church (even under a doubtful regime) can be valid if conferred with the proper matter, form, and intention, which is presumed in ordinary cases. An absolute re-baptism would be sacrilege; at most, a conditional baptism could be considered by a competent Catholic priest if serious and founded doubt existed about the first, but this is rare and must be examined case by case.

To persevere, pray the Virgin Mary daily, read works of the saints and popes prior to 1958, and seek possible contacts with faithful priests from afar (by correspondence or travel if feasible). Providence will provide in due time.

May Our Lord and His holy Mother keep you in the true faith.

For more questions, I am always available.

In union of prayers. Father Eric Jacqmin+
